entails many philosophical considerations. It has been argued by some that to travel backwards in time would be impossible, as it would facilitate the occurrence of paradoxes, such as an
individual becoming their own grandfather, or being able to travel back and kill themselves when they were children, infanticide. Therefore, prevent their adult self from existing and create a scenario
that cannot be consistent with their ongoing existence. This has been used as a traditional stance that argued backwards time travel
must be impossible. In Nicholas J J Smiths article, Bananas Enough for Time Travel defends the position that time travel maybe improbable but does not see it as impossible. This
is interesting when compared to Theodore Siders, Time Travel, Coincidences, and Counterfactuals. In this paper there is the need to assume that backwards
time travel is possible, in which case the scenario becomes more complex as this indicates the past cannot be changed, otherwise the present would not be what it is. However,
this does not mean that the past cannot be influenced by the time traveller (Smith, 1997). The common perception is that if
time travel were available then the time traveller may go back and the prevent tragic events occurring, such as assassinating Adolph Hitler to prevent the Holocaust or to change mistakes
in the traveller own past to improve their life (Smith, 1997). However, this is an idea which it totally inconsistent with time travel. The idea is that there will be
a second time around at which the time traveller cha change things, meaning that they can change events so that are not the same on each occasion (Smith, 1997). This
