it also appears that the attitude has shifted a bit. The recent popularized work of fiction The Da Vinci Code promotes the idea that all along, women should have been
at the helm and that the idea of it being a mans world is a misnomer. Indeed, since the beginning of time, there had been a power struggle between the
genders in terms of who would rule. Adam and Eve are often cited to demonstrate that the woman is beguiling and will get men into trouble, a stereotype that persists
to this day. Also, the virgin/whore paradigm is often cited when evaluating women in society, and it is sometimes hard to take an woman seriously due to the effects of
the myth. Although women have undergone a great deal of torment at the hands of patriarchal society, the balance of power is equalizing. In modern western society, women have careers,
their own property, and are treated on the same level as men. Of course, some might debate that women have made the same strides as men have over the years.
For example, there has never been a female president of the Untied States, even though there had been females who have been in charge of other countries. In some way,
the fact that the most powerful nation in the world is run by males plays into the idea that women are indeed oppressed. Also, women are continually exploited in the
sex industry and even in their own abodes by husbands who continue to objectify them. That said, it seems that the male/female problem has been heading in a positive direction.
At least, there is some attempt to render women equal. The womens movement to a large extent helped to level the playing field. These movements erupted throughout time and most
