II. FEAR AS THE RESULT OF 9/11 A. Fear of further attacks There is simply no way to know when, if and where
the next attack might occur, a harsh and terrifying reality that fuels the fear of losing friends and family. For those who already lost loved ones in 9/11, that
fear multiplies exponentially for having already experienced dread of not knowing and the emotional collapse of finally finding out the truth. Beyond concern for the safety of friends and family
is that of oneself, a fear that stems from not having the forewarning necessary to making informed decisions about skirting potential terrorist attack points. Moving out of New York
City was one of the first thoughts on many peoples minds after 9/11. Such heightened anxiety is indicative of the desire to avoid becoming an indirect victim of terrorism,
the unintentional target of terrorisms broad-brush approach. The person or persons intended to feel the wrath of the terrorists ire are very rarely the one(s) to actually suffer the
injurious act; rather, terrorists have learned it is much more effective to their cause to impact wholly innocent people in order to better get the attention of their true target(s).
Once regular citizens have been drawn into the web of bombings, hijackings and other radical exploitation, the speed with which diplomats respond to terrorist activity is far greater.
