and she begins to understand different cultures, siding and supporting her Japanese friend despite how much people hate the Japanese at this time. The following paper examines the main characters
in Denenbergs story. The Pearl Harbor Diary of Amber Billows In the beginning of the book Amber seems to be a
young girl who is tired of moving, but also tired of being in Washington D.C. where the weather is cold. She finds that when they arrive in Hawaii she really
likes it. She also makes a friend, Kame, who teaches her things she never knew. Amber is, in the beginning, kind of a sad girl who doesnt really think about
a lot of things in the world. But, with her time in Hawaii, her friendship with the Japanese Kame and her learning about how wonderful her father and mother are
Amber begins to grow up and learn and see the world in a very kind way, thinking more about others than herself in the end. She is a very typical
girl in many ways and this makes her character very good and interesting. Ambers father is a very loving and caring man
