Abstract This paper examines some of the impacts the Patriot Act has had on our rights as US citizens. It traces
the Patriot Act from its signing on October 26, 2001 to its current implementation. The Acts negative impacts to our Fourth Amendment rights are criticized. The author provides
an analysis of how these impacts are occurring in regard to search and seizure. Airport searches are a particular affront to law abiding American citizens yet we are expected
to not only expose ourselves to full body scans but even strip searches in which airport employees are allowed to even touch prosthetic devices such as prosthetic breasts to assure
themselves that they are not explosives. The author provides several examples of how these approaches have failed to identify terrorists and how, in fact, these terrorists could have been
identified using much more traditional approaches if only airport security had adhered to protocol such as insuring that passengers names are not on no-fly lists.
