that is entertaining, enjoyable and moving without either lecturing its audience or blowing up everything in sight. This paper describes such a film, The Other Side of Heaven, and how
it relates to the sociological theories of Hofstede and Trompenaars. Discussion The Other Side of Heaven is based on a true-life story; it tells of a young Mormon missionary, "Elder
Groberg" (Christopher Gorham) who goes to the Tongan Islands in the 1950s (James, 2002). In doing so, he leaves his girlfriend Jean (Anne Hathaway)behind and though he wants to marry
her when he gets back, he also leaves behind a potential rival (James, 2002). One of his worries while on the island if whether or not she will wait for
him, since he will be gone for three years (James, 2002). The Tongan Islands are a Pacific chain with a surprisingly large Mormon population, which makes Grobergs mission understandable. However,
there are Protestant missionaries in the Islands as well, and they clash with Grobergs Mormon teachings, telling the Tongans that his faith is false (James, 2002). (It must also be
pointed out that the reviewer, K. James, is a Christian, probably evangelical, and as such disparages Mormonism; he applauds the filmmakers for making a faith-based movie but refuses to recommend
it because he disagrees with Mormon teachings.) The Protestant minister on the island apparently agrees with the reviewer, because he tries to tell the islanders that the Church of
Latter Day Saints is a false religion and they shouldnt listen to Groberg (James, 2002). The Tongans however see that John Groberg is a good man, and that he has
