origin of motivation and behavior, developing a synthetic view of human behavior and motivation that accounts for the psychological, biological, and social aspects of the phenomenon. In order to
understand human behavior and motivation as a whole, it is necessary to reduce ones scope and attempt to analyze motivation within a particular behavioral context. This enables the easiest possible
understanding of an otherwise radically complex issue. For the purposes of this paper, we will explore motivation through the behavioral context of healthy eating, by addressing the question of what
psychological, biological, and social factors give rise to the motivation to engage in healthy eating. This is clearly of significant importance in contemporary culture and society, due to the rampant
spread of obesity in the Western world, the prevalence of processed foods, and the need for the cultivation of healthier eating habits on the whole. One of the most
useful perspectives for understanding how the motivation for healthy eating arises is the biopsychological perspective. This perspective fuses psychological understanding of motivation and behavior with the scientific understanding of chemical
