better. For instance, perhaps a serial killer can be stopped if one knows what to look for. Essentially, if society grooms killers, knowing how to stop the syndrome would make
for a better society. Of course, it is not always that easy. Also, as much as social sciences contribute, they are not exact sciences. It should be said that social
sciences can help provide information about tendencies and they also provide theoretical information. Studies can be done to a statistical certainty, but even then, the studies can be refuted. In
fact, a recent study discussed on the radio for example involves day care and the idea that day care is not good for children. This debate has gone on for
decades. While everyone knows that upbringing matters, exactly how to create good citizens is debatable. How to raise children who will not become criminals is even more difficult to accomplish.
There is just too much that is not known. Sociology for example is a relatively new discipline. It has only been around for two centuries. Sociology actually arose during
the early part of the nineteenth century and is thought to be something responding to modern life ("History of Sociology," 2007). That is not a surprise. Prior to modernity, people
were not able to get around as well. Ordinary forms of transportation were not available. The people could not communicate with any devices. Things changed with the advent of the
