Looking at different structure the alignment to this argument may be assessed. There are different theories regarding the way a company should be structured. The bureaucratic model has a traditional structure, where there is a strict hierarchal power structure and power is delegated from the top of the hierarchy downwards with different levels of authority and an important role for policies and rules. In complex organizations the power may need to be spread over the organization, however, even where this occurs there is still the hierarchal structure and decisions are directed by company policy. Weber argued that this was a structure that sought to find an efficient way of managing large workforces. His perspective was that the bureaucratic subdued human issues and made use of reason and logic for decision to be made with reference to calculable rules. This, he argued was a rational approach that emerged as a result of social engineering that took place and may be see as having equivalents with the use of machines in the industrial revolution as a logical progress model, Weber has argued that "The decisive reason for the advance of bureaucratic organization has always been its purely technical superiority over any former organization. The fully developed bureaucratic mechanism compares with other organizations exactly as does the machine with non-mechanical modes of production" (Weber, 1945).
