Essay / Research Paper Abstract
A 5 page paper examining the compatibility of Orem's self-care framework and Maslow's hierarchy of needs. These two concepts absolutely are compatible in their natures. Assessing results according to Maslow's theories can inform nursing evaluation of the patient's progress in self care, and be used to encourage the patient to take on even greater responsibility over time. It has been known for some time that patients gain psychological benefit from having an active role in their own health care. That psychological benefit may positively affect the patient's physical condition as well. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
