The United States is one of the few countries in the world that actually predicated its existence on the precepts of liberty and happiness.
The American Declaration of Independence declared, in part, that "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are
Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness". Despite that grand beginning, however, few in our society today either have or are pursuing true liberty or happiness!
When we think of liberty we often think of it in a physical sense. We think of being free of any type of
physical restraints such as jails, ropes, or chains. Freedom has a more philosophical definition as well. That definition might read something like the ability to behave in the
way we desire. Unfortunately, most of us in this country are anything but free. We are bound in one way or another to our government.
We are either riding the welfare train and looking to the government for our very subsistence or we are toiling away our days in jobs that do anything but make
us happy just so we can pay the government its share of our incomes so they can support that welfare train! Even more concerning is that most of us
