stories with any similarities. Homers classic tale is of a hero from ancient times. He is a leader among men, and a man of great nobility, honor, and character. With
Twains story we have Huck, a somewhat rebellious American boy who lives in poverty and essentially lives outside the confines of society. From this basic illustration there appears that the
two would have nothing in common. But, in essence, the two stories are about a journey to find truth and ones own place in the world. The following paper compares
the two stories. Odysseus and Huck Homers Odyssey is considered to be one of the most classic of tales from our ancient past. It is one of the
earliest that tells of the classic hero as well. This hero is on a journey, an odyssey, to return to his family. In many ways it stands as the foundation
for many stories that have been written since its time. It sets the stage and lays down the format for understanding the journey of life and the journey of the
hero. As such it serves as a basis for many different novels, including Twains story of Huck Finn. In one persons analysis, as it relates to modern day film
journeys, "After leaving his ruined home in a galaxy far, far away, Luke Skywalker began a journey taken by countless other heroes from Odysseus to Huckleberry Finn" (Bergeron). This critic
indicates that the setting and time frame is not really what is important. What is relevant is that "From every age and place, seekers like Odysseus and Huck Finn have
