citizen of the world. Today, there are green companies that some claim are pretentious because no one really cares about the environment. That is, green companies are so in order
to forge ahead, get the support of citizens and make money for the simple fact that they appear to be nice guys. In other words, green companies are disingenuous. They
are really just acting "good" for the money. This is one way to look at it. However, there are companies that actually seem to care about the well being of
workers and they prove this every day by providing them with a hefty paycheck that does not match the CEOs but is not miniscule in comparison. Further, some companies do
care about the environment because their founders or high level executives do. Some firms give their staff benefits such as on-site daycare and a smorgasbord of opportunities like tuition
assistance and free lunches. And while there is often a good feeling associated with corporate perks, there is the bottom line that must be considered. After all, the executives who
run corporations answer to shareholders. They cannot give away the store. Even in a situation where a company or corporation is owned by an individual, there is a sense that
the goal of the company is to profit and so, ethics has to be weighted against making money. Ideally, companies can profit while remaining ethical. That is the ultimate goal.
In todays world however, there is always a sense that making money is somewhat unethical. It seems like an odd thought, but it is true that people complain about how
the poor linger on the streets while others are profiting so much they can afford expensive amenities. While many claim that this is the essence of capitalism, others say, how
