Discussion At present, the Nixon Library actually has two sites: Yorba Linda and College Park, Maryland; however, the Maryland site is being closed and the material sent to California ("The
Move"). The move is estimated to be complete in 2010 ("The Move"). The library opened July 19, 1990; the installation is a "privately supported, non-profit institution dedicated to educating the
public about the life and times of the 37th President and encouraging interest in history, government and public affairs" ("Yorba Linda"). The library and grounds cover nine acres; the library
and Nixons birthplace are described as a "three-dimensional walk-through memoir" ("Yorba Linda"). That is, a visitor can walk through President Nixons memories and perhaps come to an understanding of this
controversial figure. The museum is 52,000 square feet in size and comprises "22 high-tech galleries, movie and interactive video theaters, the First Ladys Garden, the Presidents restored 1910s birthplace, and
the memorial sites of President and Mrs. Nixon" ("Yorba Linda"). In addition, visitors have the option of watching a film entitled ""Never Give Up: Richard Nixon in the Arena" before
they continue into the museum ("Yorba Linda"). For students in college today, Richard Nixons presidency is history, but for millions of Americans, it is a living memory. The chaos, confusion,
and shock that ran through the nation when Nixon resigned (the only President in history to do so) are still vivid in the minds of those who saw it happen.
For those who supported Nixon, the museum will be an enlightening glimpse of a man they admired; for those who disliked him, it will expose a man whose acts are
considered criminal by many. (The infamous tapes that have so many missing minutes are on display). The exhibit galleries include the "Road to the Presidency," the "Berlin Wall Freedom
