Organizations have to change and develop, with the changes that take place reflecting the past, but as Griener (1994) notes, that often organizations fail to take into account what is really occurring, blame failures on the wrong factors and the change or environment that takes place is not those that would be best for the organization, such as the case of a bank that blames its managers for failures, when the real failures are the bureaucratic systems, the blame attributed to the wrong area may then cost the organization more talented staff who leave compounding the problem. The failure to evolve and grow on the part of the organization becomes an issue as the decline set in (Griener, 1994). This is a hypothetical scenario, but it emphasises the aspect of change and the way that this is influenced by internal as well as external forces (Griener, 1994). For firms to survive they have to change, evolving as they learn and adapt to the environment internal and externally, in recent years is may be argued that rather than evolution, which can be defined as periods of growth were there are no major upheavals, that revolution, periods of change due to major upheavals are becoming more common place (Griener, 1994).
