society it seems that people believe marriage is disposable, that it is something that can be easily exited if things are not perfect. Many people enter into marriage believing they
will forever be in love and that hardships will be simple, or easily handled. The truth, however, is that marriage takes hard work and that there is no such thing
as a "happily ever after" unless one works at it, working to communicate and compromise and grow. Many individuals do not realize this truth and so when things go sour
they choose divorce, which is very detrimental to many aspects of ones life, and to society as a whole. The following paper examines how and why divorce is bad.
The Negative Aspects of Divorce Prior to arguing that divorce is bad it should be acknowledged that there are time when divorce is necessary. For example, if a husband
is beating and threatening his wife and children there is often no other option than to seek divorce for the safety and health of all concerned. In addition, if one
of the individuals in a marriage is not concerned with the marriage and is being unfaithful then this is clearly often a cause for a validated divorce. If a marriage
is bad for the emotional and physical health of a family then divorce is sometimes the only way to protect a family. But, most divorces in the United States are
