worthless. It is assumed that the student has a definition of intellectual property. In considering the concept of the protection of property then
the basis may be seen in the 1968 Theft Act s 1 as; "a person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another, with
the intention of permanently depriving the other of it" (Lexis, 2003). With intellectual property this definition may be seen as problematic, as the theft of intellectual property will often not
have the goal of deriving the owner of its use, but to gain form the duplication f that property. In extremis it may be argued as losing the competitive advantage
associated with it, but not the property itself. Therefore, according to this the theft of software may not even be deemed as
theft unless there is a physical theft, rather then copying or hacking in a computer. The definition of property itself is further complicated by the fact that on many occasions
intellectual property may not be in a physical form. Therefore there are different needs for the protection of this type of property, and when we consider the current situation it
is apparent that there are many short falls in the current situation. Therefore the concept of the need for change or the protection of property becoming worthless in the current
