it? The narration is enormously important since it can influence a readers reaction to the tale. Discussion Narrators can be all types of things: excited, detached, critical, even unreliable-Poe was
famous for using unreliable narrators who often turned out to be the murderers they were talking about. The way the narrator talks can also influence a reader: someone verbally jumping
up and down ("Wow! Spectacular! Amazing! No one in that town had ever seen anything like it!") will get a reader excited as well; they want to know whats happening
that has the narrator so worked up. This imaginary narrator is using exclamations, simple words and short sentences to convey excitement. But other writers use different techniques, and this paper
argues that Gallants narrator is detached, almost icy; while Larsens is confusing because were not sure whos speaking. We begin with Gallant; here is just one sentence from The Moslems
