But, there is far more to expressions than most people would assume. In Malcolm Gladwells essay The Naked Face the author examines research and individuals who are involved in studying
faces, expressions, and people who seem to be able to recognize, consciously or otherwise, subtle indicators in a persons expression or demeanor. The following paper analyzes the essay.
The Naked Face by Malcolm Gladwell Studying the human face is something that can truly come in very handy for a variety of reasons, according to Gladwells essay. Through understanding
the way the human face works, in and outside various cultures, there are many things that people could learn. But, as with many such sciences it is clearly not an
exact science and as such has applications but yet also possesses weaknesses. With that knowledge in mind the paper turns to answering the students questions, or prompts.
1) How does the title of the essay serve as a conceptual metaphor for the whole essay? The title is clearly one that illustrates how
the face is naked, always uncovered and thus easy to see and ready to interpret. While one could claim that some peoples faces are not completely naked, such as women
who cover their faces or men with very heavy beards or facial hair, the point is that the human face is always open and bared for viewers to see and
