/aftersale.htm -- properly! Introduction In our modern day society we see men and women in very different ways than previously
envisioned. While many of the old definitions and assumptions remain the same, for some elements of the male and female are unchangeable it would see, we have come up with
new definitions and observations. This is primarily true of women, who have seen decades of change in the home and the workplace. Modern women, while still women, are essentially in
positions which possess more power than they once did. Many plays and works of literature have tried to interest women, and have often tried to illustrate women. Two such
works are "Lysistrata" and "The Glass Menagerie." These two works are incredibly different in their portrayal of women. They both possess definitions that work to one degree or another, and
both serve to interest women in that they address stories and characters which women can sympathize with. In the following paper we illustrate what the modern urban woman is, and
then turn to discussing the two stories, arguing that today, the modern urban woman would likely be far more intrigued by Lysistrata than they would be by "The Glass Menagerie."
This preference is due to the independent nature of Lysistrata and the humorous, and real, take on the power that women have over men concerning sex. Modern Urban
