the student provided included NO information at all about Condorcet, but rather included one source entirely devoted to Kant. Therefore, the only way this researcher could include the views
of Condorcet in this example paper was to look outside of the sources the student provided.*** According to Kant, "enlightenment is mans
emergence from his self-incurred immaturity". In other words, Kant argued that man would be enlightened when he was able to have sufficient knowledge to inform his decisions and was
able to have the courage and self-control to use such knowledge for his own purposes only - not to control others. This then, was the essence of what Kant
deemed as maturity. He believed that men who wanted to possess others or needed to control others under the guise of their own belief systems were not at all
enlightened but merely were slaves to their own impulses and narrow thinking. In fact, Kant argues that immaturity is easy, and
it is enlightenment that is the difficult choice for mankind (although the more evolved choice for sure) (Kant, 1970). He contends that it is easy for man to remain
ruled by others, even those who do not have their best interests at heart (Kant, 1970). Essentially, he contends that this situation removes the personal responsibility of man, which
