time with military conflicts, not are we talking of social battles, we are looking at the one, ongoing constant war, that has not abated for many centuries. This is the
war of man against nature. For every move man may make, every advantage gained it appears there will always be a countermove made by nature, we may appear to conquer
nature with the different technologies that are used, yet in the long term all our efforts can be wiped out by a single events. These large event may be seen
as newsworthy as they are rare. The more common battle is the ongoing battle of man seeking to control his environment, portrayed not through large events and battle, but through
small skirmished that come together to form a much larger conflict. The role of technology and even human nature being pitted against nature is one permanent. There are many
books that depict this battle in its many guises, some more successfully than others. The book we will consider, due to the sympathetic manner and the messages in conveys in
a meaningful way id the book "Milagro Beanfield War" by John Nichols. This book was published in 1974, and did not meat with immediate commercial success, however, it was later
transferred to screen with a film adaptation, indicating the real value that had been noted within the book. The book is also only the first of a trilogy, and the
theme of man against nature can be seen represented in all of these books. At first glance this book is a good verses evil,with the big against the small
"Hell no man, those guys vote six, seven times apiece" and this is meant to be a quote concerning the good guys(Nichols PG), or a native verses intruder story.
