all men and women we somehow know better. Underneath much of what we believe, or what we struggle to believe, is a truth concerning our society that indicates men and
women are powerfully controlled by the nations media. The media has the ability to make a woman feel like an unintelligent complainer when she speaks of sexual harassment. It has
the ability to make it seem as though all experiences are being blown out of proportion. This also tells males that they have the ultimate power in the world of
employment, government, and society. In the following paper we examine how the media influences the sexuality of men and women in America through a discussion of the Anita Hill case
involving Clarence Thomas. The paper also discusses the film "The Contender" as it relates to these conditions. Anita Hill Anita Hill accused Clarence Thomas of making many sexually
offensive remarks and suggestions and also of pressuring her to have some sort of relationship with him. Immediately the country saw this as nothing more than a woman scorned, a
woman with some ulterior motive. Even women held some thoughts that said she was out for something, revenge or something else. It is often believed that women make things
up, an idea that is still being felt in many rape cases where women are asked if they were acting seductively, wearing revealing clothes, or essentially asking for it. Women
do not ask for such things. While a few women in the world are perhaps conniving and devious it is not likely that a professional woman, a woman concerned about
her career and her ability to get employment, would make things up and cause herself a great deal of grief. But, that was the impression the media presented and it
