fiction story, of a time when people are seemingly stuck at some particular age or another. The reader gets the impression that in this story there has been some biological
concerns, some diseases, some viruses, that have ultimately all but destroyed the natural state of things in relationship to a humans development. As such people are stuck at a particular
age in most cases. The following paper examines the role, or meaning, of time in Rosenbaums story. The Meaning of Time in Start the Clock by Rosenbaum As
seen in the introduction, the people in this story are generally stuck in a particular age. It appears as though they are also given medicines or supplements that keep them
at an age, or they are given a regime that makes them grow up if they desire. It is quite obvious that anyone in their 30s is incredibly old and
all but incredibly distasteful as well. All of this indicates that time may well mean nothing at all, that it is something controlled by humanity as it involves time and
aging. The impression is that no one will grow up unless made to do so through the use of some drugs. It is perhaps unclear, at least to this particular
reader, what all of the language means in terms of what is really happening and what the possibilities are, but it is very clear that time ultimately stands still for
many people, thus leading to their being called by their physical age, being a Nine, or a Thirteen, although they are not really only 9 or 13 years of age.
