philosophy, a student writing on this subject will first want to look at the philosophical problem. One can look at the question in two ways. The first is that it
relates to God, and to an individual, why he was created and why he should follow his Creator (Honderich, 1995). The other is something which focuses not on the individual,
but on the scheme of things (1995). In other words, what is the point of it all (1995)? Such questions are vital to understanding existence and why men should take
certain actions. After all, if humans were put on Earth with little thought, as a sort of accident of nature or product of biology only, why should people follow
any rules? Morality would likely go out the window and hedonism would be the only value embraced. Again, different philosophers hold different views. Schopenhauer for example saw life as
being equated with knowledge and that the physical world exists only for the subject of knowledge (Honderich, 1993). This in some way provides a meaning of life in that it
suggests that people are on the Earth only to learn. This is an idea consistent with New Ageism and eastern philosophy as one looks at a variety of lifetimes via
reincarnation, its purpose explained by knowledge. In other words, people are born and live their lives to learn. It is not the pleasure they get out of life that counts.
Rather, it is lifes lessons. Also, a student writing on this subject might want to point out that while that is the case, implied is that idea is that each
