two categories provide a picture of what is generally occurring. Indeed, there are people with means and people struggling, but then there is an even lower class or underclass. There
are those who become part of this lower class due to back luck, an addiction, or a mental illness. The majority of people do not turn into what is construed
as a bum, but some people cannot seem to get ahead, even if they follow the rules. In society, there are labels such as whore or murderer or beggar. In
fact, the beggars are often viewed as being of a lower echelon not only due to the fact that they likely have no money, but also because there is something
dishonorable about asking for something and offering nothing. It is not as if the beggar is begging for work. Begging, even if one is begging for a job is indicative
of low self-esteem. If a bum is begging for food, it is also in some way related to begging as it pertains to other things. Begging is begging. Begging or
groveling to save a love affair is also looked down upon. The person who is begging is pitied, not admired. Begging is always seen in a negative light. In the
work by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe entitled Elective Affinities there is a sense that begging is used to denote something more. It is symbolic of something else. What
