with another man. This is clearly something that contemporary society is used to witnessing but the combination of including life on the reservation with this problem is compelling. It
is not as if such things never happen to Indians, but rather the stories are all too often hidden. Gordon Henry chips away at the social and cultural boundaries that
sometimes keep such incidents away from the limelight. Here, Okinaway seeks to find out who he really is as he searches for the past in terms of who is parents
were. In this work, there is much detail about the Fineday Reservation. The reader gets a glimpse of life on the reservation and so, the setting makes for
interesting reading. It is also an educational romp through Native American life. Not only does the work convey a different way of life -- perhaps something that the reader is
not used to reading about -- but it also denotes a calm, specific setting that is full of color and life. The characters come alive. Henry manages to paint the
characters in such a way as to prompt the reader to continue turning pages. The author also adds a dash of humor to the serious topics addressed. Above all, this
is a story about a search for family. As Okinaway goes through life, he does seem to search for who he is through his parents. At the same time, that
is only a part of the story. Okinaway had been raised by his grandparents and much is learned about the Native American way of life. There are many colorful characters
who have much to contribute. Jake Seed, Oshawanung, Arthur Boozhoo, Moses Four Bears and Elijah Cold Crow are some of these. As these characters tell their tales, certain themes
