fence often refer to Jefferson as a stellar example. However, one question looms large. Why is he a significant character in U.S history? Jefferson was the third president of
the nation as well as the main author of the Declaration of Independence ("Jefferson," 2004). That said, Jefferson had a rather ordinary life, at least at first. He
was born in 1743 in Virginia and his father was a surveyor who owned about 60 African-American slaves (2004). Jefferson would attend the College of William & Mary and
study law, becoming the states most important legal scholar (2004). What contribution did he make in U.S history? It is perhaps well known that Jefferson had many talents.
Aside from being a scholar, a prominent attorney, president of the Untied States and the author of the Constitution, Jefferson also designed homes. He in fact designed the famous Monticello
building ("Jefferson," 2004). Obviously, while he was talented on many fronts, the primary contribution he made to history is the fact that he is a well known, important president, but
also that he authored the Constitution. The Constitution is a living document that has hardly been altered. Though amended, the document is still the most important piece of history that
the U.S. embraces. Jefferson married in 1772 and owned both land and slaves ("Jefferson," 2004). Jefferson was opposed to the British tax policies and wrote A Summary View
of the Rights of British America which is also another significant contribution (2004). What were the significant events in the life of Thomas Jefferson? Indeed, Jeffersons biography reads as
