necessary resource for an aviation company is that of technology and its ability to be able to optimize these organizational resources in order to achieve effectiveness and efficiency. In order
to manage technology Boeing needs to manage its physical assets. Boeing has a large number of technological assets including internal computer systems and the physical systems which are utilized in
the aircraft design and manufacturing system. It may be argued the design system is not being fully leveraged, the recent super jumbo jet designed by a bus was the first
plane was completely designed in a virtual environment, Boeing using technology to aid with design, but are still using more traditional techniques.
At this early stage it is difficult to determine which approach to design is likely to be best, although Airbuss approach is obviously leveraging technology to a greater extent in
terms of the design of the aircraft. Boeing may not be fully optimizing effectiveness as the Airbus aircraft has come to market first. However, first is not always been best
