The challenge for employers is to create an environment at work in which people are motivated about their work and their work priorities. Many times, organizations fail to pay attention to important factors such as employee relations, employee recognition, communication and other issues which are vitally important to the employee. OVERVIEW OF THE FIVE DISCIPLINES According to Peter Senge in his book "The Fifth Discipline" learning organizations are entities in which people continually expand their ability to create the results that they truly desire. A learning organization is an entity in which new and expansive patterns of thinking are fostered and encouraged and where the idea of collective aspiration is set free (Senge, 1990). In a learning organization, people are continually learning to see the whole organization as one together. Senge states that his basic rationale for a learning organization is that in the circumstance of rapid change, only those organizations that are readily adaptive, flexible and productive will excel and perhaps even be able to survive. To make this possible, organizations need to find a way to get people motivated and to be committed to learn at all levels. Every person has the capacity to learn. Every person have the ability to be inquisitive and to questions and learn from the answers that they discover.
