It was an exciting night and not only did the public see this candidate win a historic victory, but the people also seemed inspired by him. He saw crowds of
people crying and cheering. Notables such as Oprah Winfrey and Jessie Jackson were found amongst the approximately 125,000 people who went to see the candidate in Chicagos Grant Park (Alberts,
2008). The people there were so moved by this campaign, it would be hard to remember a presidential candidate that inspired such hope. People were crying because they were
so touched not only by the fact that finally a black man would reach the White House, but also because he is such a deserving man. Many people do believe
that Barack Obama will be a leader who will create real change. It was not as if Obama just appealed to a select group and won by a small margin.
Obama won a significant amount of votes. Voters from every region of the United States seemed to hang on to his every word when he called for change (Alberts, 2008).
Obama spoke in a televised victory speech that night. One of the lines of that speech is as follows: "If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America
is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy,
tonight is your answer" (p.A1). The words Obama uttered on that night, and throughout the campaign, are truly inspirational. It would be difficult to deny that. Yet, while the
