is a story of early Americans and Native American tribes. It is a story of a primitive nation, and also a love story in many ways. As a novel there
are clearly elements that are not true and as such are likely exaggerations of realities, and/or embellishments of real cultures and historical events. The following paper discusses such aspects of
the novel. "The Last of the Mohicans" by James Fenimore Cooper In relationship to what this novel can teach the reader about its historical subject, that being the
French-Indian War in American history, it appears that the foundations of the story are based on actual struggles in terms of the two sides of the war. In relationship to
specifics, however, it is not a story that suggests any real historical events. But, on the other hand, without a very good knowledge of the French-Indian War this is perhaps
impossible to truly access. As such it is likely not a novel that teaches about specific battles and real figures. However, it is a novel that speaks of the common
people, and how people were caught up in the war whether they wished to be or not. The people who fought the war, aside from military individuals, often had to
side with one party or another, as is the case through much of early American history. In this respect, and in the respect that it is a novel that speaks
of the traditions or position of many different native tribes, it is a very useful historical tool. This does not mean that the novel speaks accurately of specific tribes, for
that too would require a reader to be very familiar with history and the cultures of the various tribes included in the novel. It is a good introduction to understanding
