all are controversial issues, it appears that abortion pushes the most buttons for people. In part, the language of abortion seems to fan the already hot flames. On the pro-abortion
side, the term pro-abortion is problematic. The term "pro-abortion" is ironically used by the other side. No one is supportive of a surgical procedure. Hence, those who support abortion
call it "abortion rights" or "womens rights" or "pro-choice." Those who are against abortion call women who have abortions many names. They call physicians "abortionists" and "murderers." The call the
fetus a baby. They see "abortion mills" as opposed to seeing womens clinics and hospitals. Those on the other side who support abortion vie to use langue like fetus and
zygote and cluster of cells. They talk about the fetus in language other than the idea that it is a baby. Those who are on the life position, and are
sometimes called pro-lifers by those on both sides of the issue, always call the subject a baby. They never refer to it as a fetus. The debate about abortion
is generally tied to the idea that it is morally wrong. Yet, the religious groups that lobby against abortion now realize that secular rhetoric can go a long way to
change opinion (Bailey, 2002). They realize that if they use religious verbiage, it will only have a limited appeal but when they use secular rhetoric, they are able to reach
a broader audience (Bailey, 2002). For example, the Christian Coalition now argues against the practice due to ideas from the Declaration of Independence instead of drawing on biblical information
