This is different from a group which often involves people of varying opinions which is often necessary as ideas are shared and considered in relationship to the direction of the
group. The basketball team, the Killer Bees, from Bridgehampton, NY serves as a very good example of a team, even amidst the concept of team. The following paper examines how
the Killer Bees demonstrate the difference between group and team. The Killer Bees: Bridgehampton, NY While it does not appear as though the Killer Bees have won a
great deal of games in the past 10 years, they stand as one of the most powerful examples of teamwork. And, it appears as though their losses may be due
to the shift away from how team members grew up in the school district, although the team and community focus is clearly still there, as noted by one author who
states, "But even when the team isnt wining state titles, the community is supportive and knows theyll eventually be back, because, like they say, Killer Bees never die" (Cheviot, 2007).
What is important is how they became who they are today, as a team. The present coach notes that it is
important for players, and students, to get the experience of school spirit starting at an early age so that they can "associate pride with the uniform and want to be
part of the legacy" (Cheviot, 2007). It also appears as though, in this team, the players take time from their own schedules to work with younger children in the program
in order to encourage such spirit and sense of community (Cheviot, 2007). It is important to also see how this particular coach "has never cut a player from his team.
