He was, however, the most famous of the Bachs through his innovative approaches and he innovation concerning instruments as well. He was innovative and passionate about the instruments as well as the music, and his legacy is a powerful one that still influences music today. Keyboard instruments appear to have been his favorite in relationship to playing and composing. The following paper examines the keyboard instruments of Bach. The Keyboard Instruments of Johann Sebastian Bach "Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21st l685, the son of Johann Ambrosius, court trumpeter for the Duke of Eisenach and director of the musicians of the town of Eisenach in Thuringia" (Baroque Music [1], 2006). It appears that for many years, if not generations, the family had held many positive and powerful positions in the music world in their region, serving as organists as well as instrumentalists in the town (Baroque Music [1], 2006). They were Cantors as well and essentially held a very powerful reputation for being a strong musical family (Baroque Music [1], 2006). In the early years of Bach he was possessed of a beautiful soprano voice. That voice, however, changed as he grew and he sought other musical endeavors, the first of which involved the organ (Baroque Music [1], 2006). He met Georg B?hm who was an organist, and also a student of a famous organist who was a friend of the Bach family (Baroque Music [1], 2006). Through B?hm Bach was "introduced...to the great organ traditions of Hamburg...When he was nearly eighteen, Johann Sebastian, considerably enriched by these musical experiences, decided he would try to find employment as an organist in his native Thuringia" (Baroque Music [1], 2006).
