short applications and be hired on the spot. Even for jobs at large corporations, it is the job application that is necessary and that is a rote part of the
job hunting process, but it is necessary. A key question is, what are executives looking for on the application? First, it is important to understand who is looking at the
application. Generally, it is someone from Human Resources. Human resources personnel look at resumes and applications, but they do not have the power to hire; they only have the power
to screen out applicants (Cohen 43). What does this mean? HR people look at hundreds of applications and only pull out the ones that look good. They eliminate far more
than they keep. Hence they have an eye for knowing what is good. What are they looking for exactly? First, a look at the job application is appropriate. What is
