airplanes have gotten an overhaul since the days of Orville and Wilbur. The jet engine is a modern invention, but it has accelerated in terms of use and sophistication. Today,
there are numerous types of jet engines. Some are simple while others are sophisticated. In fact, the jet engine has a long history and has made the world a better
place to live. While todays world is not quite the Jetsonian playground of tomorrow perhaps, the jet engine has revolutionized the way in which people live. In examining how
the jet engine changed America, and how it functions in various craft today, it pays to examine the workings of this marvelous machine. First, what is a jet engine exactly?
An engine is a machine that makes use of power in order to do work (Barnes-Svarney, 1995). Simply stated, that is what an engine does. Jet engines are engines, but
they accelerate and discharge, with fast moving fluid in order to react in respect to one of Newtons laws ("Jet Engine," 2005). The jet engine was created after a time
when it was discovered that former designs were simply inadequate. In many respects, the invention made it likely that things would change immeasurably. Indeed, they did. With the invention of
