of whether they can recover. It seems as if euthanasia is reasonable for those who are suffering. At the same time, there seem to be too many problems when making
rules. The questions apply to individuals. People therefore ought to be deemed of sound mind when making a decision to end their lives. This way, the individual will be making
the decision. A judge will not be following some arbitrary rule, and a physician will not be relying on his objectivity. The Dax Cowart problem is a case
in point. Dax Cowart wanted to stop treatment after being burned, claiming that the end result was not worth the torture he was put through (Stith, 2006). The doctors continued
to treat this man because they did not believe that Cowart understood his choices (Stith, 2006). He did understand, and after he made a full recovery, he still says it
would have been better if the doctors would have let him die. It seems as if a man who could have died was not happy to have been saved suggests
that there are fates worse than death. People who are not under the influence of substances, and are otherwise able to discuss the subject intelligently, ought to be able to
decide whether to live or die. Although it seems as if euthanasia is justified as long as someone of right mind requests it, there are other situations where perhaps
euthanasia should never be administered, or when perhaps death should be hastened even if the person does not have the right state of mind to make the decision. An example
