metaphors in this work and in fact, the title is a play on words. The invisible heart reference is of course very similar to Adam Smiths (1994) invisible hand. The
theory in regard to the invisible hand goes to the assumption that all individuals work to profit for their own gain, but essentially contribute to the overall economy. In other
words, people work for selfish reasons but the end result is positive. It is the invisible hand the promotes that positive end, but the participant is not privy to
this knowledge. In other words, events occur automatically or naturally while the individual goes about his business. Yet, while the concept is important, the fact that the invisible hand is
at work does not negate the result. In other words, the individual who unwittingly contributes to the good outcome is not entirely responsible for what occurs. Perhaps he is propelled
by greed but that is of no matter. Rather, he or she plays a role in the economy by pursuing his own interests for his own gain. Everyone does their
part and no one individual or policy is responsible for the outcome. The invisible hand is a concept in economics. The Invisible Heart is the title of Russell D. Roberts
(2002) book and is subtitled an economic romance, and so it actually is a rather humorous title. Just like the invisible hand works under the radar, the invisible heart works
in a clandestine way in this piece of fiction. In general, the work is a novel that focuses on two main characters Sam Gordon and Laura Silver (Roberts, 2002).
The pair discuss economics, but it is like a James Carville-Mary Matilin relationship. That is, Sam is a conservative while Laura is a liberal. Other subplots run throughout the story,
