can be positive or negative for the people involved. The following paper examines the two sides of the gods and goddesses, primarily in Greek and Roman history but also in
Egyptian. The Intervention of the Gods and Goddesses One can look at ancient literature, such as Gilgamesh, and see how the intervention of gods can be positive. For
example, in that classic tale Gilgamesh is ultimately frightening the people for he uses their women and has no regard for anyone. The people plead to the gods to help
and they send Enkidu for the people and ultimately all is well for the people. Another epic tale, and one that is far more well known, is Homers The Odyssey.
In this story one gets a perfect example of how gods and goddesses can be helpful or harmful. One can see this in the following excerpt involving gods and goddesses
