This loose conclusion is based on Galileos previous paragraphs when he argues, partially, that scientists of the day refused to accept new scientific discoveries, particularly those that had to do with astronomical ideas when they thought those ideas were contrary to their own interpretation of Scripture. This statement is made after a discussion about where heaven is and what form or shape it is. Within this immediate discussion, Galileo argues that the Holy Ghosts main purpose is to teach us how to attain our highest goal, which is salvation. However, the statement is not as much about the Holy Ghost as it is about the discourse of the Bible or Scripture versus science. This debate and these heated discussions have existed for centuries. Galileo is telling both the Church and the Queen that they are separate and that one should not be telling the other what to do or professing there is only one belief about certain things. It was his continued assaults against both what officials in the Church proclaimed and the accepted academics proclaimed that would subsequently cause Galileos downfall. The first issue of Scripture versus Science begins at the beginning in Genesis and the creation of the universe. Genesis says that at first the earth was covered by water. Scientists claimed, even at that time, the earth was initially a dry crusted ground and water came later. As we all know, there are many theories about the origin of earth and of life but true or not, that does not mean Scripture is wrong. Rev.
