fourth of July. The realization that the nation is one of the only ones on the planet that provides so many freedoms, and takes care of so many people may be construed as a blessing. Intertwined with U.S. history is an amazing document called the U.S. Constitution. This constitution, while wonderful from its inception, had been amended along the way to provide people with certain important rights. Each of these amendments are important in different ways. For example, the first amendment characterizes the freedom of thought and religion and speech on which the nation was founded. Later on, the nineteenth amendment would give women the right to vote. Today, women are equal to men in the U.S. and this is not the case in certain other countries. Also, while those are of significance, the fourth amendment is often personalized for a lot of people. Perhaps someone is stopped by a police officer who is profiling and is searched unnecessarily. The fourth amendment protects all Americans from such searches. The critical significance of the three amendments noted provide a glimpse into why the Constitutional amendments are so important. II. An amendment of personal significance: The Fourth Amendment Many people will find personal significance in terms of the fourth amendment. One does not have to be a criminal to receive this protection. When a student goes to school and sees dogs sniffing his locker, or succumbing to a urine sample to get a job or simply because the principal demands it, one should feel violated. The fourth amendment addresses issues that do become personal. The fourth amendment reads: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants ...
