silly. But it is the dedication to the service of ones country that keeps the United States strong. This paper is written from the point of view of a young
male who argues that a strong military is necessary in order to protect the U.S. from danger, including terrorist attacks. Discussion The United States is a free society thanks to
the sacrifices made by the members of our armed forces. There is a saying that "freedom is not free," which means that it must be protected at all times and
fought for if necessary. Military personnel know that and willing put their lives on the line to fulfill this mission. Its important to recognize that the world has changed.
It is no simple matter these days to distinguish friend from enemy; this is not like the 1930s when Germany and Japan mounted a clear threat to world peace and
nations banded together to fight a common enemy. The evil of these nations was easy to see: the Japanese were invading and occupying other Asian nations; the Nazis were conquering
Europe. In both cases, it was pure military aggression, and had to be stopped. There was certainly no indication that either nation had any intention of ending its campaigns of
