believe unequivocally that people should never support the idea of abortion, even if the mothers life is in danger. Such individuals believe that their position is a universal notion and
one that is categorically wrong. They base the idea on the fact that human life is sacred and along those lines will not support the death penalty for example, or
stem cell research. Then, there are others in the middle of the road who believe that abortion is wrong but may support it politically. For instance, Catholic Democrats continue to
say that while they are good Catholics, they must separate their religion from the office. On one hand, it is true that to lead the people, a good elected official
will implement the will of the people and if supporting the individuals right to make a decision on abortion is part of it, so be it. Yet, the Catholic church
would frown on that argument and note that the sanctity of human life comes before politics. Clearly, that argument--that people should make up their own minds about morality--is on the
other end of the spectrum as compared with someone who supports the idea that abortion is categorically and morally wrong. It does seem to be common sense. Because there are
so many belief systems in a melting pot society, why not just let people decide their own morality? There are many reasons why ideas that go to cultural relativism are
not sensible. Values must come from somewhere other than individual minds looking at individual experiences. People do tend to justify their own actions and use those justifications as excuses. Anyone
who murders another human being has some reason for doing so. They might have killed another person because not doing so would have meant jail time and if sent to
