of standards states of that the terms standard, used in this context will mean "An acknowledged measure of comparison for quantitative or qualitative value; a criterion..... A degree or level
of requirement, excellence, or attainment" (Dictionary.com, 2004). This shows how standards need to be defined but also how they need to relate to the requirements of a task. For example,
if a company is making exclusive diamond pendants the standards will need to bee defined in terms of high quality with measurable criteria. However, if the company is making task
bags then the standards will not need to be high, but appropriate to the task in hand. The standard of the material used and the production quality may be expressed
in terms of the performance of the product and the specification required to meet that need. Here the standard of the input material may be lower than other plastic products
such as childrens toys. In setting the correct standards there is a less likely failure scenario. However, when setting standards these need to be made by reference to all
the requirements of the end product,. For example, looking at an IT product and the use of information technology, it is not only the task that should be set within
the standards, such as what it needs to do and within what parameters, but also the standards required to help and gain the support of the users. IF we look
