involved. Even a good systems design will fail without quality software. It should also be noted that systems development methodologies may be evaluated in respect to their impact on software
quality as well as productivity (Bordoloi & Lee, 1994) . Software developers look at quality as the extent to which software meets all user requirements without any defects
and the extent to which software may be adapted to changing software environments which inevitably change (1994). On the other hand, users view quality as the extent to which
software is easy to use and useful (Bordoloi & Lee, 1994) . It is therefore important to keep in mind that while the meaning of the term quality really does
not change, systems developers view quality in a much more serious light. The role that the IS project manager plays in ensuring software quality when developing systems has to do
with a variety of things. There are major implications for the roles of stake holders, and their responsibilities which encompass the design and improvement of the development process (Ravichandran
& Rai, 2000). Developers and project managers actively collaborate with users as well as vendors to tap into certain experiences and insights regarding the improvement of the development process (2000).
Quality becomes paramount. Both users and developers should collectively design a system for the acquisition and analysis in respect to process improvement opportunities and they also should examine
