Any problem that has the potential to affect an individuals mental, physical, or social well being also has the potential to severely disrupt what
is considered a well-balanced and happy life. When a person is sick, either physically sick or mentally sick they simply do not have the capability of enjoying life to
the fullest. The same can be said of individuals that are afflicted by physical deformities or injuries. When a person encounters problems dealing with others their social well
being is at stake. Even factors such as shyness or introvertedness can affect social well being. Then, of course, there are also the various phobias that can negatively
impact ones interactions with others. The quality of individual life is indeed related not just to the individuals physical and mental health but also to their ability to interact
on a positive level with others. These three components are, in fact, integrally related to one another. Any number of examples could
be presented to demonstrate the contention presented above. Perhaps the most utilitarian example, however, is one that demonstrates how a physiological problem can affect and be affected by mental
processes and social interaction. A common problem that will serve particularly well in this regard is blood pressure problems. This is a particularly apt example given that research
is changing the way we view the causative factors of the condition. While diet and exercise are still considered important preventative measures for the disease, numerous other factors may
interplay to make some apparently healthy and active individuals more susceptible to blood pressure problems and the potential for heart failure or stroke than others.
