can lead to problems. Although there are "born leaders" who seem to have vision and foresight--in addition to stellar management skills--running a company the old fashioned way is often frowned
upon in todays postmodern society. With attention to diversity, innovation, and globalization, one can see that the world has changed and what used to be construed as effective leadership has
changed as well. It used to be that the old fashioned, no nonsense style of management--where the peons would cringe when the boss would go by--was something to be
admired. It was, after all, a model that worked. One man would lead and everyone would follow. The only problem with this style is that while sometimes the leadership would
seemingly be effective--at least the firms would do well--the individual workers were not necessarily content. Although it is not the job of the workplace to ensure individual happiness, certainly demeaning
workers and not allowing individuals to have a say at the company is not ideal. With newer models in the latter twentieth century, and now in the early twenty-first, there
is a tendency to treat human resources as more valuable than ever before. Each and every individual is seen as someone who can contribute to society. They can also contribute
to the company as well. No longer is the one "man" in charge. Rather, today, there is a tendency for companies to foster their workers unique characteristics and creativity. Although
