I. Introduction In the year 2000, well before the events of 9/11 would frighten the public into a frenzy, there was
an attack on many computer systems. It happened also after the public relaxed with the Y2K scare. What happened in February of 2000 over the course of a few days
was that sites like eBay, Amazon and Yahoo would be knocked off line for many hours (Krebs, 2003). One might call this a catastrophic system intrusion because, even though it
was short lived, it hurt many commerce sites and general businesses. It was very disruptive. Potentially, similar hacking events could halt all e-commerce activity so the event of focus should
