of understanding and perspective about this city, as these stories all illuminate various aspects of Dublin. What is so interesting
is that Joyce has the brilliant ability to relay such thoughts without overtly doing so. His methods are wry and subtle, giving hints as to the personality of the
city without ever distinctly revealing large chunks of Dublins persona. In this way, the reader is treated to the joys of ruefully uncovering the great mysteries of Dublin and
the many intricate experiences through which Dublin is revealed. An Analysis of Joyces Dublin James Joyces Dubliners is a collection
of fifteen short stories which discuss in great detail the country of Ireland. Whats so interesting about these stories is that each one is different and unique, and therefore
each one presents an entirely different reality for different Dubliners. Take for instance the story, Eveline. This is the
story of a young girl who lives in Dublin with her father and her brother. But living there has become like living in a prison, and often Eveline dreams
of escaping so that she and her lover Frank can be together. She actually comes quite close to doing just that. She goes to the port in
order to meet Frank and go with him to Buenos Ayres, but at the last minute she realizes that she cannot leave her family or her home.
